COVID-19 Vaccination Position Statement

As they pertain to Respiratory Therapists:
Respiratory Therapists are required and expected to practice the profession as outlined in the CRTO Standards of Practice, specifically Standard 9 Infection Prevention and Control Standard, which states:
“RTs are required to apply appropriate infection prevention and control measures according to provincial guidelines, regulatory requirements, and employer policies.”
The CRTO strongly encourage its Members to get vaccinated or at the minimum comply with their employer’s vaccination policy, as per Directive #6 issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Health in Ontario.
As they pertain to employers of Respiratory Therapists:
Employers are required to submit a report to the CRTO if they terminate, revoke, suspend, or impose restrictions, of a Respiratory Therapists employment for reasons of professional misconduct, incompetence, or incapacity. This includes reporting of Respiratory Therapists for refusal to comply with an employer’s COVID-19 vaccination policy.
