The XXII Winter Olympic Games took place in Sochi, Russia despite much controversy leading up to the events. Two Malaysian Airlines have been lost this year: first Flight MH370 over the Indian Ocean and more recently MH17 over Ukraine after being shot down in a conflict zone. The current Ebola outbreak in West Africa has raged all year, with almost 10,000 cases and almost 5,000 reported deaths. It is the largest ever outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease. Popular movies this year have included Gone Girl, Fury, Guardians of the Galaxy and Edge of Tomorrow – with the highly anticipated third installments of both The Hobbit and The Hunger Games series’ expected later this year. Television debuted shows True Detective, Fargo, and The Flash this year as well to much acclaim and popularity.
