Fees & Timelines
You may not begin work as a Respiratory Therapist in Ontario or use the title Respiratory Therapist or GRT/RRT designation until you have received written confirmation from the CRTO that your certificate of registration has been issued.
Application Processing Timelines
Working as an RT includes participating in an employer clinical orientation or training.
The average time required to review and process your application is 2 to 6 weeks. Your $75.00 application fee is to be paid at the time of application and is non-refundable.
Incomplete or Not Approved Applications
If your application is incomplete or not approved, we will contact you regarding next steps/options in the registration process. Incomplete applications will not continue being processed. Applications that are not completed will be closed after 12 months and you will need to re-apply at that time.
Completed Applications
If your application is complete you will receive an email from the CRTO to confirm that your application has been approved. Once you have received approval you will need to pay the registration fee through the Applicant Portal. Once you have paid your registration fee you will receive your CRTO Registration Number and will appear on the CRTO’s Member Register.
Referral to the Registration Committee
If there is reasonable doubts that you meet the registration requirements, your application may be referred to the Registration Committee for review. When an application requires a review, you are notified with details why your application is referred. You will be given time to submit additional information to support the application. Applications referred to the Registration Committee will have longer timelines.
